Official Rules

These rules govern the structure of competition and the play of matches within the Sparks & Recreation Digital Open.

Any rule questions or clarifications will be directed to a League Organizer.

The League Organizers are:

1. Swiss Rounds

1.1 - The tournament will begin with a number of "swiss" rounds.

1.2 - The "swiss" portion will be played without heroes. Instructions on sending a challenge without heroes can be found here.

1.3 - Each round will be a single game. Participants will get matched together based on similar win/loss records throughout the "swiss" portion.

1.4 - The number of rounds in the "swiss" portion will depend on the total number of participants in the tournament.

1.5 - Points will be earned during these rounds. Participants will get 3 points for a win or a bye and 0 points for a loss.

2. Top cut

2.1 - After the "swiss" rounds, there will be a cut to the top "X" players. The top "X" players will be determined by their records during "swiss" and the number of participants in the tournament.

2.2 - If multiple participants have the same record tiebreakers will be used. These will be:

2.3 - The top players will then pick a hero class to use for the remainder of the tournament. This will be submitted privately to the T.O. and not revealed to other players until everyone has picked.

2.4 - Play will continue in a single elimination bracket with participants seeded based on "swiss" performance.

2.5 - Each match will be best of 3 games. All games will be played at level 3 in the Hero Realms Digital app on the current production release. Instructions on sending a level specific challenge can be found here.

3. Match Results

3.1 - Tournaments will be run through the Sparks & Recreation Digital Open Challonge community.

3.2 - Match results can be reported by either the winner or loser of the match.
